Half-Day Course on Setting Up & Managing an E-Group

The e-group or mailing list, as it is sometimes called, is the place where a group of internet users communicate with each other using emails. Instead of typing out the email address of each person one by one, the writer just types out the group email and all the email addresses that are in the group will receive his message. When someone replies, he addresses it to the group email again and all members of the e-group will receive his reply. Thus, it is more convenient to send and receive emails this way..
The e-group can be used by a company to send memo, company policies and other information about the company activities to its staffs. The e-group can also be used by a group of friends, who share a common interest, to communicate and keep in touch with each other. Lastly, an e-group can also be used by a group of family members and relatives to keep in regular contact with each other by email.

.
. I am offering a half-day course on how to set up and manage an e-group. The course consists of the following modules:
1. How to set up and name an e-group. Thus, if a group of friends who share the common interest of say, fishing, they can call their e-group as "fish_hunters" or something like that
2.

After the e-group's name is approved, the person who sets up the e-group, known as the "owner", shall send an invitation to all his fishing friends' by emails to invite them to join the "fish_hunters" group. The owner can also subscribe them directly into the e-group if he so wishes.

3. After the e-group has been set up and functioning, I shall then show you how to manage the e-group such as:
a.

How to set up an event or task to inform members of the e-group about a forthcoming event and to send regular reminders to the group.

b. How to set up polls to ask members to vote on certain issues - for example, whether to go fishing at Tasik Kenyir or Tasik Temengor at a certain forthcoming date.
c. How to manage  members' emails. Some members don't open their emails regularly and after sometime when their Inbox are full, their emails "bounce" back, i.e. emails from the e-group bounce back and did not get into his Inbox. I'll show you how to "unbounce" their emails so that they can continue to receive and send emails.
d. How to use the "filters" to store the emails into different folders
e How to set up a signature for your email
f Appointment of moderators to manage the e-group on behalf of the owner
g How to store files and photos in the e-group so that the members can view them.

The course material would be handed out to you at the start of the course. It can be used as your reference when you set up and manage your own e-groups.
